It's not the head, it's the base of the bullet that matters. Same reason a 7.62 x 39 or 7.62 x 54 won't work on the 7.62 x 51 (.308) 7.62 is the head. (Bullet) Good luck on finding .308 stripper clips. I've found one place thru shotgun news. They hold 5 rounds per stripper clip. Personally, not worth the hassle. It would take 4 clips to load a 20 round magazine, and 6 to load a 30. That's 20 clips per hundred rounds. Gary's guns @ http://www.garysguns.com has them for $4.50 per 10 clips. (For the M14. Charger is $3.50. You will need to find a charger for your particular rifle/magazine. I'm looking for some for an FN/FAL. Found the charger. Don't really want to pay 60 bucks for stripper clips. Rather buy more ammo) That will get expensive to load up 1000 rounds or so. $36.00 for 400 rounds loaded. $72.00 for 800. (Please check my math) If you find any cheaper/holds more, let me know.
